Oriel breaks new ground with ceremony to mark its first development

North West housebuilder Oriel, part of the First Ark Group, has held a groundbreaking ceremony at its first development site - The Woodlands in Halewood, Liverpool. Oriel is constructing the £4 million site in a joint venture partnership with Seddon Construction.
The ceremony, which took place on Monday 7th September, was attended by representatives from both Oriel and Seddon Construction, accompanied by Knowsley’s Mayor Edna Finneran and her Mayoress Michelle Finneran. Attendees conducted a ceremonial breaking of the ground at the site before taking a tour of the development to view how the work, which began in May 2015, has progressed.
The site on Arncliffe Road forms part of Oriel’s first wave of housebuilding, which comprises the building of 251 homes across the Liverpool City Region over the next three years. Phase one of The Woodlands includes 22 three-bed semi-detached houses, three three-bed detached houses and four two-bed semi-detached houses for sale, along with 10 two and three-bed semi-detached houses for rent. All of these properties are due for completion by March 2016.
Stephen Heverin, director at Oriel, said: “Breaking the ground at The Woodlands takes us one step closer to our ultimate goal; generating high quality homes that offer multiple home ownership options to meet people’s aspirations.
What’s more, every aspect of the development aims to give back to the communities in which we work. So as The Woodlands and our other developments progress, we’re able to regenerate communities and develop a strong neighbourhood spirit. The development is also making a difference to young people’s lives in the region - five apprentices have had the opportunity to work on this scheme, three of whom are local to the Knowsley and Liverpool area.”
Duncan Williams, regional housing director at Seddon, said: “Today’s groundbreaking ceremony marks an important development for the area. The land has been disused for a number of years and will be completely transformed thanks to the construction of these new homes.
“We are excited to be working with Oriel on this development and look forward to bringing the site back to life. Furthermore, the partnership continues our commitment to training and development with the five apprentices completing their training on phase two of the scheme.”
Those interested in owning a home at The Woodlands are able to make use of a wide range of buying options, tailored to meet the needs of individuals. These include shared ownership and equity loans, assisting customers to purchase the home they aspire to own. The site adjoins a 28 acre parkland, dubbed ‘the triangle’, which is ideal for those seeking family friendly activities, for instance woodland and wildlife walks, football pitches, a fishing pond and conservation club.
Phase two of The Woodlands has been scheduled to commence during summer 2016.
