Africa Oyé 2018 – 16th - 17th June – Sefton Park

Featuring artists from across Africa, South America and The Caribbean is Africa Oyé, a fantastical explosion of culture and music, including singers Marema and Lura. Created to dispel negative perceptions of Africa, such as associations of war, famine and disease, Africa Oyé has grown to become Britain’s largest celebration of its music and heritage. Not only is there Salsa, Reggae and Soca to enjoy but 40+ stalls offering food, drinks and fashion, as well as arts and crafts at Oyé Village. Bring the kids along for face painting, drumming workshops and the funfair full of rides and entertainment.

Southport Air Show – 6th – 8th July – Southport Seafront

The Southport Air show is always a crowd pleaser, comprising of aircraft displays that will showcase dazzling aerobatics. Accompanied by music, pyrotechnics and LED lights will be the RAF Red Arrows, The Blades and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight among others. If that wasn’t enough, you can test your own skills through thrilling flight simulators, as well as take part in paintballing.

Liverpool International Music Festival – 21st – 22nd July – Sefton Park

With a fantastic line-up of 70+ artists including Basement Jaxx, Example, Aurora, Trevor Nelson and DJ Jazzy Jeff, this year’s music marvel is said to be the best one yet. With a theme of ‘Co-Exist and Connection’, the variation of musical styles, genres and culture will fill three electrifying stages. They’ll also be showcases from emerging bands, DJs and artists from across Merseyside, giving you a first-hand look at the up-and-comers.

CBBC Summer Social – 3rd-5th August – Croxteth Country Park

This fabulous Summer Social will be jam-packed with all your children’s favourite television and musical stars, from Sam and Mark, Ben Shires and Hacker T Dog to Union J, HRVY and Bars and Melody, who are sure to keep the kids entertained for hours on end. They’ll also be discos, themed treasure hunts and character walk-abouts, and for the toddlers, a CBeebies Village. There the little ones can learn about animals and hear a Bedtime Story if they feel tired out.

The Terracotta Warriors – Ongoing until 28th October – World Museum

Comprising over 180 relics from museums around the Shaanxi Province, this special exhibit presents the history of the Chinese nation, including Qin Shi Huang’s rise to power and the Han Dynasty that followed. Among the collection are the ‘General’, ‘Charioteer’, ‘Armoured infantryman’ and ‘The Golden Horse of Maoling’, as well as artefacts that have never been shown to UK audiences before. If that wasn’t enough, the museum also has an aquarium, dinosaur gallery and planetarium sure to keep the whole family entertained.
